Your DREAM JOB doesn’t exist.

Dream jobs aren’t real.

I’m not trying to be cynical here…..  I’m actually trying to speak j your dream so that you don’t give up on it.  I’ve seen SO MANY small business owners give up and then they’re angry that their business failed.  And I don’t want that for you…. So I’m gonna tell you before you start that YOU CAN LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE, but you have to be willing to do what it takes to create that life.  And it won’t be easy.  It’ll probably be the hardest thing you’ll ever do and there is a reason why a lot of people won’t do it.  Because the fire you have to walk through, the amount of breaking you will have to undergo is truly unbelievable until you are actually in the humbling process of building a business.

BUT it is also the most fulfilling life path.  This journey of pursuing your dream is the only thing that will chisel you into the best damn version of yourself.  And that’s what you want right?  So let me clear this air so you don’t trip over this delusion.

There’s a certain delusion that we believe (notice that I have believed it too) when it comes to creating a life that you love.  People would always approach me at Red Brick Boutique because they thought it was a very glamorous job. They would say to me I’ve always dreamed of doing something like this but right, I just have a boring job.  First of all, if you think your job is boring, I’m gonna tell you I am so grateful for what you do! I love you if you are the girl who does the trash billing and makes sure the things that are disgusting get removed from my driveway every week.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand wanting to have a job that you love.  But you have to be so careful with this because there might not be a paying position available to you in exactly what you want to do. Cause you have to be willing to give the marketplace what they want, instead of asking the marketplace to accept who it is that you are. And this can be really hard to understand unless you have walked down the road of the entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs often start off in turning their hobbies into businesses. But you quickly discover that just doing your hobby as a business doesn’t work. There are skills that you have to learn, there are things about running a business that are NEVER EVER going to be fun.

Also, we need to talk about pressure.  There could be this unnecessary pressure that you put on yourself to have a job that is really great all the time.  Not only is that never gonna happen BUT believing that can cause you to MISS THE THING you could have done to walk out your dream. Sorry if I’m bursting your bubble. But my own bubble had to be destroyed too in order for me to understand that I can’t get paid to do what I want to do. I get paid for something someone else wants me to do. Do you see the difference?  HUGE DIFFERENCE. Ok that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy your job or look forward to what you do.

Just so I can be your living example and drive this baby all the way home......

Let’s say I want a clothing boutique but I live in a town of only 500 people. Hmmm..... how’s that gonna work? That’s not really enough people to support a store like that.

But I hate social media and I don’t want to go online where all of my customers are 24/7.  I also am not willing to record videos or get in front of the camera nor do I want to hire someone to be the face of my company.

Ok so I have a couple choices here, I can be mad at people who don’t want to shop at my store and shut it down cause it’s not working.  OR else, I can turn myself into a social media personality even though it makes me feel insecure and terribly vulnerable.

Are you following me?

It makes me so sad that people let go of their dreams so early on.  Yes there are road blocks and mountains that you didn’t expect to have to scale, but don’t you for second believe that you don’t have what it takes to succeed in the sharky waters of business.

You do, otherwise you wouldn’t have read all the way to the end where I tell you that you do have what it takes and pushing through the hard stuff just proves it.

If you wanna know more of the knitty gritty on building an online business that actually works, let me help you. It will change your life FOREVAH.

Love,

Paula
